Last week Cyan was delighted to welcome Emilie Begley of Hautlieu School as a participant in the Institute of Directors Work Shadow Scheme.
The Scheme aims to provide students with a taste of business life and Emilie certainly had a busy week as she attended a number of meetings with clients and new business prospects. In this way, Emilie was able to gain an insight into how Cyan provides expert support and advice to its clients. She also achieved a good understanding of all sectors of Jersey’s finance industry and had a crash course in Jersey’s legal and regulatory regime.
Emilie was enthusiastic throughout the week and said afterwards “It was a fantastic experience with a friendly and approachable team which taught me the importance of relationships with clients as well as the different business areas that I had never realised existed. The team have taught me in as much detail as they could within the week, which was a very enjoyable experience, through Chris’s and Philip’s multiple diagrams!”
Although we decided to participate in the Scheme in order to “give a little back”, upon reflection our week with Emilie was a hugely positive experience for Cyan. Should other firms ever have the opportunity to participate in the Scheme in the future, we would not hesitate in recommending they sign up.
